A team of researchers at the Maastricht School of Business and Economics (SBE) won the Wetenschapsprijs 2016 (Science Award 2016) by MOA, the Center for Information Based Decision Making & Marketing Research.

In his inaugural address, Marko Jelicic stated that most of the perpetrators who claim they do not remember the crimes they committed are not telling the truth. He bases this finding on recent neuropsychological research on the role of the hippocampus, the area of the brain involved in storing memories of life events.

On 25 May 2016 at the yearly Deans and Directors of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) Retreat at the National School of Public Health in Athens, Katarzyna (Kasia) Czabanowska was voted an ASPHER President Elect. 

Prof. Ruud Kempen and Prof Jos Schols were installed by the Health Council of the Netherlands as members of the committee that will develop recommendations for the Ministry of Health with respect to the research agenda and knowledge infrastructure in the area of disability and self-management in old age.
