The Staff Career Centre at Maastricht University has a team that is dedicated specifically to PhD candidates and postdocs. You can come to us for help with issues related to coaching; courses and workshops; and learning, development and your career.
Coaching
Our coaching is specifically focused on your work and career, but we also offer personal coaching that is related to your work. Some example questions and issues that people come to us with:
- "How can I improve collaboration with my supervisor?"
- "I can’t finish my work on time because of my perfectionism."
- "My insecurity hinders me in my career development."
- "My contract will expire soon; what are my options?"
- "I would like to learn to network and present myself better in job applications."

Courses and workshops
We offer both courses and workshops to develop your transferable skills such as personal effectiveness, presentation, assertiveness and self-management skills. View the complete overview of our courses.
Learning, development and your career
You can also come to us with all your other questions related to learning, development and your career. This could include, for example, getting feedback on your CV and cover letters and practicing a job interview.

The PhD and postdoc team consists of Hanneke Wessels and Olga Reneerkens. Hanneke guides you in addressing your career-related issues and/or coaches you regarding work-related issues. Olga advises you regarding learning and development and conducts the intake interviews. Olga is also your first point of contact.
