Since the introduction of photos on the packaging of tobacco products in 2016, Dutch smokers have become more aware of the harmful effects of their addiction. This is the conclusion of PhD research by health scientist Dirk Jan van Mourik, who will be defending his thesis at Maastricht University on Tuesday.

UM researcher Kay Deckers was announced the first ever winner of the Young Outstanding Research Award, for the most promising dementia researcher in The Netherlands. The research of neuropsychologist and epidemiologist Deckers focuses on the relationship between lifestyle factors and the chance of developing dementia.

Together with Tallinn University, Stockholm School of Economics and consultancy firm Brand Manual, the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management (SBE) and the Service Science Factory (UMIO) received an Erasmus+ Grant to realise this programme to co-develop an executive study programme in the field of Service Design.

Hilde Verbeek, associate professor in the Department of Health Services Research at Maastricht University/CAPHRI will join The Young Academy, a group of innovative scientists and scholars, in 2020. Verbeek is the coordinator of the Academic Collaborative Centre on Care for Older People.
