MCT Education in Europe

The Maastricht Centre for Taxation offers two bachelor programs, four master specialisations at Maastricht University, both at the Faculty of Law and at the School of Business and Economics, and, together with the University of Aruba, an American specialisation of the master’s in International and European Tax Law. We also offer courses for non-tax students of International Business, European Law School and other programmes as well as tailor-made courses for executive programmes.

Bachelor's, master's, and executive studies

MCT contributes education and research expertise to the following academic programmes:

  • BA Tax Law

    Tax Law

    Combines legal, economical and fiscal courses. You’ll learn all about (international) tax laws and about different types of taxes, such as wage tax and income tax. But it also includes courses on private, administrative and constitutional law. Upon graduation, you’ll be able to advise multinationals, self-employed entrepreneurs, and friends and family about the legal aspects of the tax system.

  • Fiscal Economics

    Fiscal Economics

    Use economics, accountancy, management, and law to analyse the effects of taxes on national and international economies. Working in small groups, examine current, real-life problems and find solutions. Build independence, confidence, and critical thinking for in a career as a tax advisor, tax consultant, or tax inspector. A shortage of Fiscal Economists means excellent career prospects.

  • MA programme Tax Law

    Direct Taxes (Dutch)

    Deze studie bereidt je voor op de algemene Nederlandse belastingpraktijk. Je leert alles over winstbelangen, zoals inkomstenbelasting, vennootschapsbelasting en het internationaal belastingrecht, maar ook over pensioenen. Je kunt een stage volgen bij het bedrijfsleven, de advocatuur, overheid of rechterlijke macht.

  • MA programme Tax Law

    Indirect Taxes (Dutch)

    Tijdens de master Indirecte Belastingen krijg je naast algemene fiscale vakken ook vakken die te maken hebben met douanerecht, accijnzen en de fiscale aspecten van internationale handel. Deze specialisatie wordt aangeboden in samenwerking met de Universiteit van Tilburg en de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, waar je ook een blok zult volgen.

  • MA Fiscal Economics

    Fiscal Economics

    Combine elements of taxation, law, and economics to become a registered tax advisor, tax consultant or tax inspector. Partly in Dutch, the programme focuses on tax and tax laws in the Netherlands, though topics like European tax law are also included. A range of compulsory courses give you an in-depth understanding of taxation, accountancy, corporate and value-added tax, and more.

  • Master's programme International and European Tax Law

    International and European Tax Law

    Study a broad range of economic, legal, and social topics. Gain hands-on experience with real-life cases involving complex international tax issues. Entirely in English, though an advanced Dutch course in corporation tax meets requirements for the Dutch Order of Tax Advisors. Almost all students find legal or financial consultants jobs soon after graduation.
