Ethical review

Ethical review of scientific research involving either human participants or personally identifiable data is done by several ethical review committees within the university. For studies that fall under the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act (WMO)   (in Dutch), review by the accredited review committee METC (Medisch Ethische Toetsingscommissie)   (in Dutch) is mandatory. For other types of scientific studies, ethical review is done by the relevant ethical committee: Ethical Review Committee Inner City faculties (ERCIC) or Ethical Review Committee Psychology and Neuroscience (ERCPN). Reviews are conducted using the assessment criteria and guidelines laid down in the Code of Ethics for research in the Social and Behavioural Sciences involving human subjects
