Imogen is a political economist whose research interests cover subjects including state capitalism, foreign investment, sovereign wealth funds, and the political economy of China. Her PhD dissertation seeks to answer the question, How does Chinese state capital transnationalise? Her PhD is embedded in the ERC project, SWFsEUROPE, lead by PI Adam Dixon. Her research has taken her on fieldwork to Beijing and Hong Kong. In 2020, she was awarded a Short Term Scientific Mission by the COST Action CHERN to conduct fieldwork on Chinese infrastructure projects in the Balkans.
Imogen has been published by Political Science and Routledge. She also writes regular commentary for non-academic platforms including the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, Lowy Institute, and Leiden International Review. She has been interviewed by Bloomberg and presented her findings to the European Commission.
She completed a research master in political science and public administration at Leiden University and a bachelor in economics and statistics at the University of Auckland.
