Hearing and Balance

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery aims at developing new algorithms to improve inner ear imaging, including Radiomics and machine learning. This involves an extensive collaboration between multiple (inter)national reference centers and the laboratory of Prof. Philippe Lambin. 

Unique contributions and highlights

In Meniere’s disease it has been shown that an automated diagnostic algorithm shows equal results to (what is currently considered) the gold standard, MRI hydrops imaging, with respect to diagnostic accuracy. Current projects include optimizing the algorithm and extending it to other inner ear disorders.
