Mood, Anxiety and Trauma

Crossroad
Research theme: Monitoring
Clinical pillar: Mood, Anxiety and Trauma

Our aims are to identify factors that contribute to psychopathology - specifically related to mood, anxiety and trauma-, and to develop and optimize intervention and treatment strategies. We apply a wide range of methodologies (e.g., neuroimaging, experimental models, Experience Sampling Method in daily life) in patient populations and individuals with subclinical or no mental health problems.

Unique contributions and highlights

Our translational research efforts to study panic attacks and the initiative to specifically target adolescence (an age period when most mental health problems first emerge) represent key objectives. One of our major achievements is the successful combination of research in the laboratory and in real life settings, to study the mechanisms involved in the aetiology of disorders. We also employ real-life monitoring to assess the efficacy of novel personalized phone app (SELFIE) interventions that promote self-help.
