Eda Cetinkaya Yarimcam (E.C.Y.)

Eda Çetinkaya Yarımçam is a postdoctoral researcher at FASoS, Department of Technology and Social Studies, Maastricht University (MUSTS). Çetinkaya Yarımçam completed her master's degree in communication sciences at Hacettepe University. She holds a doctorate degree from Ankara University, Faculty of Communication. She currently works as a research assistant at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey.

 

Her PhD dissertation titled “usage practices of information and communication technologies by academics in social sciences" in Turkey, focused on the transformations of academic daily life routines and academic working forms that affect an academic’s relation with knowledge and perception of knowledge. Her postdoctoral project aims at a comparative analysis with her doctoral thesis. This ethnography based research is entitled ‘Digital Technologies, Knowledge and Academia in Social Sciences: An Ethnographic Study to Compare Academic Cultures in Turkey and in The Netherlands’, funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey (TUBITAK). Prof.Dr. Sally Wyatt is the supervisor of this project. In the research, she is interested in how the academy, academic culture and knowledge production in the Netherlands are being transformed with intensified use of information and communication technologies. 

 

Her academic interests relate to daily life, digital technologies, digital cultures, new media, higher education studies and ethnography.
