Heather Petrick (H.L.)

Heather Petrick holds a BSc in Biomedical Science (Nutritional and Nutraceutical Science Minor) and an MSc in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, both from the University of Guelph, Canada.

Heather currently works as a PhD student in the department of Human Biology, NUTRIM School for Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism, at Maastricht University. She is part of the M3 research group led by Prof. Luc van Loon. Her PhD is also in collaboration with the University of Guelph, Canada.

In her research, Heather focuses on the effects of nutrition, exercise, and physical inactivity on skeletal muscle mitochondrial function and protein metabolism. She is involved in several studies examining the regulation of mitochondrial function in numerous situations from clinical settings to elite athletes. She is also teaching in the Human Movement Science master program at Maastricht University.
