Marta was born in Venice, Italy in 1994. She studied at the University of Padua in Italy, where she first got her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, and then a master’s degree in Medical Biotechnologies. She did her master’s internship in the laboratory of Prof. Antonio Rosato at the Veneto Institute of Oncology (IOV) in Padua, where she tested the cytotoxicity and mechanism of action of bioconjugate chemotherapeutics on in vitro models of ovarian cancer.

In January 2018, after graduating, she spent six months at the laboratory of Prof. Hans Grönlund at the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM) at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Here, she worked on two projects concerning the identification of novel neoantigens in cancer and multiple sclerosis. From August 2018 to April 2019, she worked as a full-time researcher in the field of cancer immunotherapy at TCER AB, a biopharmaceutical company in Stockholm, Sweden in a project for the development of adoptive cell therapy for the treatment of bladder cancer.

In September 2019 she started working as a PhD candidate at the department of Toxicogenomics at Maastricht University.
