FEM Lunch: Peer reviewing and the use of neutral language with Michael Erard
What is “neutral language” in peer reviews, and why is it important? Michael Erard is a linguist, writer, and scientific editor as well as Funding Advisor for the Faculty of Law. He will summarize a recent Trends in Cognitive Sciences article, “Peer review: the case for neutral language” (Parsons & Baglini 2021) and facilitate a discussion on neutral language, including its challenges for non-native writers/readers of English.
FEM would like to stress that the event is open to everyone interested in the topic, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
