Opening academisch jaar 2015/16

Monday 31 August Maastricht University will celebrate the official opening of the academic year 2015/16. This year’s theme will be: ‘Building the community’.

During the morning programme initiatives that connect students with the city will be presented. In a panel discussion the municipality, the University Council and students will look for new possibilities and chances to strengthen the mutual links between students and the city.

During the academic session in the afternoon as a tradition, the officical opening takes place. With this year’s keynote speaker prof. Leo Penta, president of the German Institute for Community Organising in Berlin. Professor Penta is renowned for putting his community-building expertise into practice in cities in Germany and the US.
