Dies Natalis 2015

On Friday 16 January 2015 Maastricht University celebrated its 39th anniversary, or Dies Natalis. The theme of the Dies celebration was 'Engaging Talent'.


During the official celebration, four outstanding individuals were awarded with an honorary doctorate for the exceptional contributions they have made, directly or indirectly, to academic education and research. Among them European Commissioner Frans Timmermans and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. See this press release for more information.

As in previous years, the Dies celebration included the presentation of various awards: the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize, the Dissertation Prize and the Student Prizes. Not only the best Master’s theses were awarded this year; also the best Bachelor’s theses of 2014 received a prize during the morning programme.
