Dies Natalis 2014

On Friday 10 January 2014 Maastricht University will celebrate its 38th anniversary, or Dies Natalis.

This year, the Dies celebration is marked by André Postema’s farewell. After two terms as vice-president of Maastricht University, he will step down from the Executive Board. Postema bid farewell to UM with a speech entitled ‘Maastricht University: a love story’. Rector Magnificus Luc Soete also addressed the audience with his lecture on 'Science in the global 'Participatory Knowledge Society'.

As in previous years, the Dies celebration includes the presentation of various awards: the Wynand Wijnen Education Prize, the Student Prizes and, for the first time, the Dissertation Prize for the best dissertation of 2011/2012.

Five outstanding individuals will receive an honorary doctorate.
