Projects I am working on at the moment are:
TRANSIT, an EU research project that will develop a theory of transformative social innovation which is about empowerment and the humanization of the economy. It runs for four years, from January 2014 until December 2017. http://www.transitsocialinnovation.eu/
URB@Exp, a transdisciplinary research project about urban experiments for urban governance in five cities: Maastricht, Malmo, Antwerpen, Graz and Leoben. http://www.urbanexp.eu/
“Knowledge base about transformations and transitions” project, a literature review of 5 bodies of knowledge. In this project, funded by the European Environment Agency (EEA), I am surveying the literature on socio-economic transformations, to examine their relevance for sustainable development policy.
“Energy Efficiency of Households in Cities: A Multi-method Analysis” together with the Chinese Academy of Science (CEEP).
Smarterlabs, a project about smart mobility Living Lab experiments in four cities: Bellinzona, Brussels, Graz and Maastricht. The project is funded by the Urban Europe programme. www.smarterlabs.eu
I am scientific project leader of projects 2, 4 and 5. Two other projects I am involved in (as principal investigator) are:
The SINCERE project (Sino-European Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency) about resource efficiendy. In this project researchers from Europe and China examine historical patterns between resource indicators, trade and macro-economic performance, develop new economic models for explaining and managing resource-use. http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sincere
Green.eu, a network of European and international researchers, policy makers and stakeholders in the fields of eco-innovation, green economy, and sustainable development. In this project I am working on eco-innovation measurement and green industrial policy.
The first 5 projects I am doing at ICIS, the last 2 at UNU-MERIT. More info about the projects and myself can be found at my personal webpage http://kemp.unu-merit.nl/
