11-08-2022In 1999, Hanneke van der Tas was one of the first students to graduate from UM’s brand new European Law School. She went on to earn a postgraduate degree from Harvard Law School. She passed both the New York Bar and the Paris Bar, seemingly destined for a career as a lawyer or judge. Then her life took a very different turn.

Workplace education programme for secondary school teachers in Limburg
17-03-2022Maastricht University and Radboud University’s teacher training academies are to intensify their cooperation to address the shortage of secondary school teachers. The joint workplace education programme will make it easier for existing and aspiring teachers in Limburg to obtain a teaching qualification via an academic teacher training programme. The new programme will start in September 2022.

Escaping the rat race

Last year, Maastricht University alumni Dick and Izabela Bemelmans decided to leave the rat race. They moved to a secluded spot in the Polish countryside, with the aim of offering guests rest and relaxation and to teach them something about by nature. “We may be working harder than ever, but we’re more relaxed.”
