Alumni Coachcafé: successful first edition

At 19.00 the first participants arrive at the stylish café of Filmhuis Lumière. The first Alumni Coachcafé is about to begin. Nine coaches, all Maastricht University alumni, have been recently undergone training to be able to coach 27 participants this evening in taking the next step in their career.

The Alumni Coachcafé is an UM Alumni Office initiative, in collaboration with the university-wide Employability Project. The evening's programme is intended for young alumni and master students who, in groups of three supervised by a coach, discussed their talents, dreams and next career steps. The coach supervise the discussion, asked stimulating questions, inspired and helped the participants to find answers. The concept has already proven successful, with similar events being organised in various locations in the Netherlands for years. It helps young alumni and master students to adopt a more mindful approach to what they are capable of and what they really want.

This initial successful edition is one of the first results of Maastricht University’s new initiative on student employability. This addresses employability in all its facets: from curriculum design to increased accessibility and transparency of learning opportunities, career counselling, internships and practice based learning. Allowing and encouraging alumni and students to tap into the expertise, enthusiasm and experience of peers, staff and fellow alumni. The objective: to support students and alumni on their way to becoming and remaining knowledgeable, confident and responsible global citizens.

This 27 June, a second edition will be organised. Registrations will be opened later this month on the UM Alumni webpage
