SHE welcomes prof. Desirée Joosten-ten Brinke

We are excited to announce that prof. Desirée Joosten-ten Brinke will join the School of Health Professions Education as professor of Learning and Assessment.

Prof. Joosten-ten Brinke is currently working at the Open University Heerlen, in the Netherlands, as professor and dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences. She has extensive experience with research on various types of assessment as well with the integration of assessment in different educational designs. Starting September 1st, prof. Joosten-ten Brinke will be appointed at the School of Health Professions Education and the Department Educational Development and Research of the Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University. We look forward to welcoming her and are excited about the contribution she will make to optimal healthcare through science-informed models for the education of future and current healthcare professionals.

Bio

Prof. Dr. Desirée Joosten-ten Brinke (1967) studied Educational Science at the University of Twente and graduated at the Department of Educational Measurement and Data Analysis. Currently, she is dean at the Open Universiteit of the faculty of Educational Sciences with a chair on Adult Learning. Between 2010 and 2020, she was associate professor at the Teacher training College at Fontys, University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg and academic director of the professional master program on Educational measurement. Her research and teaching focus is on quality of testing and assessment, e-assessment, Assessment of Prior Learning (APL), formative assessment, adult learning and distance education. She supports teachers, PhD students, master and bachelor students in their research on these topics. Prof. Joosten-ten Brinke  is a member of the expert group on assessment for primary education, member of review committees and editor-in-chief of a Dutch journal on assessment ‘Examens’.
