    Since January 2020, BISCI participates on behalf of Maastricht University in the research project Smart Packaging for Intelligent Logistics. A consortium of triple-helix organizations participate in this ambitious project, funded by OpZuid and the European Union.

  • Rapid growth in use of Uber app Amsterdam


    The number of taxi drivers using the Uber app in Amsterdam has grown from 1,298 in January 2016 to 5,217 in December 2019, and the number of trips made has also risen sharply. In December 2019, 8.8 times more trips were made than in January 2016, and the total number of kilometers traveled by drivers over all those trips has more than quadrupled. The gross earnings of drivers per hour averaged € 24.48 in 2019. This is evident from the Factsheet 'Uber Amsterdam: ‘Uber app users, trips made and earnings 2016-2019' from the Research Center for Education and the Labor Market (ROA) of the University of Maastricht.
