Feedback from a visitor to a previous Master's Open Day
Known around the Netherlands for its refinement and beautiful historic centre, Maastricht is a lively and welcoming city on the convergence of Dutch, German and French-speaking regions. Because of its intimate scale, almost everything is within cycling distance. Home to a university, a university of applied science, a conservatory as well as arts, theatre, and design academies, Maastricht boasts a large and diverse international student community and a vast variety of cultural and social opportunities.
Our unique way of teaching
Maastricht University (UM) is known for its International Classroom and its unique, small-scale approach to education. Problem-based education (PBL) emphasises the skills you need in the 21st century workplace. These include critical thinking, daring to take initiative, as well as curiosity and creativity. Led by an experienced tutor, in internationally composed groups, you analyse relevant and complex problems and try to find a solution to them.
