The Marshall Plan and Today’s Transatlantic Relations
The transatlantic partnership, a driving force behind European integration, has come under pressure from both sides of the Atlantic. With 2018 marking the 70th anniversary since the start of Marshall Aid, there is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the past and present of US-EU relations. After a short lecture, Karen Donfried will be interviewed by Mathieu Segers: to what extent and why has the transatlantic partnership changed? What were the ideas and values that once inspired and fostered the US-EU bond through the Marshall Plan? And how are they relevant to today’s transatlantic relations?
