Applying for a Dutch residence permit
Do you come from Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, the United States or Vatican City and are you going to study at Maastricht University (UM) for more than 90 days? Then you need a residence permit (Dutch: verblijfsvergunning, abbreviated VVR).
You can only apply for a residence permit via Maastricht University. The application starts automatically after you have been admitted to a programme.
This service is free of charge. However you must pay the statutory cost of € 192 for the residence permit. The residence permit is valid for the duration of your programme.
We are aware that some students are being contacted by individuals fraudulently claiming to be from Dutch Immigration (IND) or acting on behalf of Dutch Immigration (IND). Please know that Dutch Immigration will never contact anyone by phone nor will it ask you to transfer money. If in doubt always contact IND yourself (www.IND.nl/en).
