Bachelor's Open Day

Find out more about one of the most international universities in Europe, experience our unique approach to teaching, immerse yourself in your programme of choice, and explore our beautiful city. The next Bachelor's Open Day is on Saturday 24 February 2018.

Maastricht University (UM) is known for its International Classroom and unique, small-scale approach to teaching: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) emphasises skills relevant to the labour market of the 21st century, such as independence, critical thinking, initiative, curiosity and creativity as well as soft skills. Under the guidance of our experienced tutors, you analyse and solve relevant, complex problems in small international groups.

Almost all of our bachelor’s programmes are taught in English and we have an extensive institutional network that allows you to study abroad. We have more than 100 different nationalities among our students and staff.

Known around the Netherlands for its savoir vivre and beautiful historic centre, Maastricht is a lively and welcoming city on the convergence of Dutch, German, and French-speaking regions. Because of its intimate scale, almost everything is within cycling distance. Home to a university, a university of applied science, a conservatory as well as arts, theatre, and design academies, Maastricht boasts a large and diverse international student community and a vast variety of cultural and social opportunities.

But don’t take our word for it – come visit us and explore Maastricht.

A look back at the last Bachelor's Open Day

On Saturday 25 November, we welcomed thousands of prospective students, parents and guardians. The faculty information sessions were very well attended, as was the information fair.

Among the highlights were lectures by motivational speaker Donovan Livingston and by Hermien Miltenburg who advised parents on how to best support their children in choosing a study programme.

The Student Room Escape at the Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences allowed prospective students to experience how busy and fun student life can be. Also popular were the green screen photo booths, the robot demonstrations and the quizzes.

This open day was the first to allow visitors to make use of Maastricht University Open Day App, which we developed ourselves. Even though there were some teething problems, the app received a score of 8.3 (out of 10).

Our social media reporters were on site all day to capture the best moments, which you can see on our social media tag board
