Prof Dr Christian Hoebe, M.D. (C.J.P.A.)

Prof.dr. Christian Hoebe (MD, PhD, SPH; www.orcid.org/0000-0003-1815-0974) is Head of Department Social Medicine and full professor Social Medicine specifically Infectious Disease Control at Maastricht University. He is also Head of the Department of Sexual Health, Infectious Diseases and Environmental health, Public Health Service South Limburg and part of the research staff of the department Medical Microbiology of Maastricht University Medical Centre (Maastricht UMC+). He has 25 years of relevant work experience in public health. His passion is in infectious disease control (including sexually transmitted infections) - challenging current practices and searching for improvements to make more impact for the benefit of the health of all. He loves guiding new talented researchers and was supervisor in 15 finished PhD trajectories. He was project leader of several large-scale public health projects - from Chlamydia to COVID19 - and was (co)author of over 200 scientific international peer-reviewed publications. He was (co)applicant of over 50 grants with a total amount of more than €15.000.000.-. He has the ability to successfully and efficiently deliver output and encourage co-operation among team members and partnerships at all levels.
