Public Procurement: A key tool to reach sustainability in Europe and beyond

This conference aims to serve as a dynamic platform to discuss how public procurement can contribute to sustainable growth, responsible business conduct and respect for labour and human rights in production processes. Scholars, public officials and practitioners will discuss how challenges such as the depletion of natural resources, climate change and social inequality can be taken into account in public procurement procedures, not only from a theoretical point of view but also in practice. The conference, which is multi-disciplinary in nature, will not only focus on legislative developments but also on economic theories underlying sustainable development that actually allow for sustainable assessment. Emphasis will hence not only be placed on how sustainable solutions can be identified and implemented in procurement practices but also on the actual impact of sustainable procurement.
