About our school

Who's SHE?

The School of Health Professions Education (SHE), part of Maastricht University, is a graduate school focused on health professions education.

Our vision

Excellent healthcare requires evidence-informed models for the education of future and current healthcare professionals. Through research, education and innovation, SHE works towards a world in which all healthcare professionals are well educated and in the best position to contribute to high-quality care.

Our mission

SHE aims to be a leading hub for research and innovation of health professions education (HPE) worldwide in a broad and global network of healthcare practitioners, researchers, educationalists and policy developers who share a passion of the development of HPE. SHE connects HPE research to educational activities, consultancy, innovation and impactful global projects with a focus on the synergistic value of connecting theory, research and practice to move the field of HPE forward.

The values that characterize SHE are ‘open, inquisitive, socially responsible, collaborative, innovative and ambitious’. These values are important for our discussion of our academic culture, our approach to talent development and PhD training and open science.

Through research, education and innovation, SHE works towards a world in which all healthcare professionals are well educated and in the best position to contribute to high-quality care.

Our core activites

Through a combination of research, education and international collaboration activities, we contribute to preparing (future) healthcare professionals for the challenges ahead. Through high-quality interdisciplinary research, we generate knowledge and insights that inform health professions education and practice change. How we do that? Through three interconnected core activity domains: education, research, and collaboration.
