Guotong Shen (G.)

Guotong Shen is a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Law, Maastricht University. Her Ph.D. project concerns employee participation in corporations from a law and economics perspective. Her research interests are law and economics, law and society, corporate governance, empirical legal studies, and Chinese law. She actively participates in academic activities and has been invited to present her work at renowned law schools in cities such as Bangkok, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Prague, and Rotterdam. Her academic work has appeared in leading journals, such as Modern China, and University of Pennsylvania Asian Law Review.

Guotong obtained her Bachelor of Management degree at East China University of Political Science and Law in July 2019, majoring in Labour and Social Security. She also minored in Law from 2016 to 2018. In 2018, she was selected for the Advanced Undergraduate Study Programme jointly organised by ECUPL and the University of Leeds. As part of this programme, she spent her fourth undergraduate year in the UK, pursuing a Master of Laws degree. In November 2019, she graduated from the University of Leeds with a Master of Laws degree in International Business Law.

In addition to her academic work, Guotong is also interested in legal practice. Since 2019, she has held the National Legal Professional Qualification of China. She has contributed to the journal of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association.
