What struck me most when first started here was the lack of negative energy, peer pressure and competition, which is very refreshing for an honours programme.

It's a lot of work but it is very rewarding
UCM definitely has a unique atmosphere compared to other 'units' of UM. What struck me most when first started here was the lack of negative energy, peer pressure and competition, which is very refreshing for an honours programme. I came to UCM because it allowed me to study exactly what I am interested in, and to explore new interests while being in a supportive academic environment. I am very pleased with my experience so far. It's a lot of work but it is very rewarding.

Students at the forefront of the learning process
Problem Based Learning is basically a method of learning that puts students at the forefront of the learning process. I personally like it because it instils discipline and responsibility in every student to do the work consistently not only for his or her benefit but also for the benefit of the entire group.

Challenge myself to try something new and relevant for the future
I love how supportive and available everyone is in Maastricht, from the lecturers, to the tutors and students. Even professors from other faculties are willing to offer help and guidance when asked, this is extremely important in an open curriculum. I'm interested in Data Science and Machine Learning. I found that those disciplines offer great flexibility in terms of research and future employment, so I wanted to challenge myself to try something new and relevant for the future while at university.

Stress-free, charming, practical, safe
I love Maastricht as a city! It is the perfect city for a demanding programme like UCM: stress-free, charming, practical, safe, and very close to amazing European destinations for reflection week and weekend getaways.

Because of the smaller groups, tutors can actively contribute to our growth, I feel like they want to see us succeed.
