Hi I am Xuefeng Wang (Alan) from China, but I actually study at Queen's University in Canada. I am an exchange student, and I will be here at UCM for a whole year. The main difference between Queen's University and UCM is definitely the learning style. Back home, we always have lectures with hundreds of students. Here it is always small tutorials with PBL and the lectures are more complementary. I spend more time studying at Queen's University, but I have to read more here at UCM.
I cannot really say that I like PBL, because back in Canada, I do not have the necessity to talk in lectures. While at UCM, I really need to talk and participate, so it is hard for me to get used to do that. Nevertheless, one of my expectation for this upcoming year is to fit in the new environment.
I would like to integrate in this new community and to get used to PBL. I especially like the people and the atmosphere here. Everyone is quite friendly, and I feel it is very easy to fit in UCM's and the local community. Moreover, I would like to try to find an internship here.
There is more community spirit here.
