Maastricht University is progressive and innovative, also in the field of safe computer work places, where we now perform most of our work and research at the University.
CtrlWORK offers you breaks at regular intervals, depending on the intensity of your work. These breaks, called micro breaks and computer breaks are designed to allow you to work at a computer in a comfortable, healthy and efficient fashion. Besides breaks, CtrlWORK also offers tips on aspects such as time management, work posture, comfort, exercise and healthy eating. CtrlWORK does, of course, take into account your natural behaviour in terms of breaks (telephone discussions, fetching coffee, meetings, etc) and will only offer you breaks if these are necessary.
Recent opinions show that micro breaks are not effective enough. The effect of three minute breaks appears to be much greater.
Own production and flexibility
Maastricht University is of the opinion that it is highly important to attune your break software as closely as possible to your own needs. With CtrlWORK, you can compile your own profile with ease, ignore available breaks if required, determine the content of the break yourself, and compile and view your own reports.
If Ctrlwork is not installed on your desktop the software can be downloaded from the ICTS licence page , and can even be used at home. In the event of problems with the installation process, you can contact the local IT support team. If necessary, the prevention officer of your management unit can provide you with advice when setting up your user profile.
You can download the CtrlWORK user manual as a pdf.
