Maastricht University offers students from a number of educational institutions opportunities to do a work placement at the University. As a rule, agreements about the possibilities of internships and the particular assignment involved are made by the student and the manager of the unit where the internship is offered. Agreements regarding remuneration have to be made with the unit manager.
The following principles are adhered to within Maastricht University:
- no remuneration is granted for short placements (generally six weeks);
- for placements in preparation for a profession, a gross daily allowance of € 15 applies.
All interns must be reported to the HR-department of the unit where they are interns. Interns always fill out the intern information form.

Payment of internship allowances takes place through the Payroll Department provided that an internship agreement is made.
In principle, Maastricht University is liable for any damage caused by interns during their internship.
