The employee who has been instructed to relocate may be granted an allowance for temporary accommodation until the actual time of relocation if the Executive Board deems it impossible for the person concerned to commute daily from home to work. There must be double housing in this period and the accommodation is not provided by Maastricht University.
The amount of this allowance is no more than €650 per month and can never exceed the expenses actually incurred. This allowance is granted for a maximum of one year.
The employee who is entitled to an allowance for the cost of temporary accommodation may also claim an allowance for travel expenses for commuting or temporary commuting, as well as the cost for visiting his/her family during weekends.
These allowances are granted only at the employee’s request and end in any event upon the relocation of the employee or the termination of the employment.
Employees who make use of the 30% scheme are not entitled to an allowance for the costs for temporary accommodation.
The exact conditions that apply are set out in the complete text of the 'Commuting and Relocation Allowance Regulations'. You can download the application form 'Alternative housing and weekend visits'.
