Academic Staff positions, appointment
Based on the UFO-system (Universitair Functie Ordenen) Guidelines on Appointment, Salary Scales and Promotion of Academic Staff is adopted.
The regulations Tenure Track and Recruitment and Selection and Appointment of Professors outline the implementation of career policy for academic staff as defined in the HR policy plan ‘Create (y)our future’.
Tenure track is an official route to a fixed appointment for academic staff. The adopted regulation is focused on the position of assistant professor (UL). Tenure tracks for other positions are under consideration. This regulation outlines the implementation of career policy for academic staff. In addition, it helps to reduce the number of temporary academic staff appointments, thus responding to the CAO NU stipulation that universities have no more than 22% temporary academic staff appointments (UM achieved this target in 2016).
Policy regarding professors
The regulation provides a uniform framework for nominating and appointing professors. It also defines, for the first time, the position and appointment procedure for university professors and includes measures to increase the number of women professors.
