If you are dismissed you may be entitled to a transition payment. From 1 January 2020, you are entitled to a transition payment in the event of dismissal from the first day of your employment contract. If the dismissal took place before 1 January 2020, the employment must have lasted at least 2 years. This is always subject to the condition that the dismissal is at the employer’s initiative. The amount of the transition payment depends on the salary received and the duration of the employment contract.
Many components play a role in determining whether transition payment can be claimed and, if so, what the amount will be. The HR adviser will check whether you meet the conditions and PSA will then calculate the amount of the transition payment. The HR adviser will keep you informed of the status of your situation.
Probably you are entitled to a consecutive BWNU (see the VSNU website under ‘BWNU’) benefit and transition payment. The HR adviser will inform you about this situation and only the transition payment will be calculated.
In some cases you are entitled to a consecutive BWNU or a transition payment. In this case both the transition payment and the consecutive BWNU benefit will be calculated so that a well-informed choice can be made.
More information on the transitional compensation can be found on the central government’s website (only in Dutch).
