Insurances by UM
Maastricht University is as an employer responsible for her employees during their stay on work locations and also during a business trip.
Insurance is taken out to limit or fully cover the financial damage caused by a particular incident. Maastricht University has consciously chosen not to insure all risks. Risk management and risk awareness play an important part in the decision to insure an incident.
Maastricht University Office (MUO), department Finance, is in charge of the administration of the insurance portfolio. A working party consisting of experts in the field of finance, legal, general and technical matters regularly discusses the claims for damages and the latest developments. In addition, regular consultations take place with Maastricht Universities insurance broker.
Maastricht University has taken out the following insurances:
- property insurance (buildings, company equipment/fixtures and fittings and goods)
- companies’ and professions’ liability insurance
- goods-in-transit insurance
- travel insurance
- directors and officers liability insurance (for directors and supervisory directors)
- experimental subjects insurance
- accident insurance
Apart from the insurances mentioned above, which were taken out by Maastricht University, employees themselves also have to or have the option to take out insurance. For this purpose Maastricht University has made collective agreements with the insurer CZ for health insurance and with Centraal Beheer Achmea for car insurance, home insurance, legal assistance insurance and level term insurance.
