Biomedical Sciences

Bachelor's programme Biomedical Sciences - Maastricht University

Focuses on state of the art methodology and the skills that enable researchers to unravel the molecular mechanisms in health and disease, meeting a growing demand for highly specialised professionals in a range of life science fields. The programme is offered in a cooperation between Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and Hasselt University in Diepenbeek, Belgium, together referred to as transnational University Limburg (tUL).

Human Movement Sciences

NUTRIM, Human, Movement,Sciences, DIV1, DIV2, DIV3

Covers all aspects of the relationship between physical activity and health – from patients trying to get better, to individuals just trying to stay fit, to top athletes aiming for the pinnacle of their sport. Upon graduation, you will have a deep understanding of the relationship between physical activity and health. You'll be well-prepared to work as a researcher, product developer, exercise scientist or trainer at, for example, a rehabilitation institute or a major sporting club.

Health Education and Promotion

NUTRIM, Health, Education, And, Promotion, DIV1, DIV2, DIV3

Focuses on the development and evaluation of health interventions at both the behavioural and environmental levels. The specialisation is interdisciplinary, combining elements of psychology, communications, epidemiology, biomedicine, sociology, political science and management. Research is an integral part of the master of in Health Education and Promotion. The programme is linked to the research goals of two FHML Institutes, including NUTRIM.

Health Food Innovation Management

NUTRIM, Health, Food, Innovation, Managment, DIV1, DIV2, DIV3

Prepares students to understand the process of innovation in the food and beverage industry, specifically focusing on improving consumer health and healthy eating behaviour. Through a multidisciplinary learning approach, students will be prepared to help transfer health science aspects into sound new product and marketing concepts. The programme is offered at Maastricht University satellite location in Venlo.

Psysician – Clinical Investigator

This master's is distinguished from other masters by the combination of patient-oriented research and medical practice. This master fulfils a bridging function, because of the translation of the outcomes of scientific research into the practice of patient care. After completing this master's, graduates will be both a basic doctor and a clinical researcher. In the fourth year, students can take the first steps towards a PhD trajectory. Afterwards, they can continue their path in scientific research. A specialisation in the medical world is also possible, for instance as a general practitioner or surgeon. This master programme is offered in Dutch.
