Parents' info session
Choosing the right programme can be quite a challenge because universities offer a very diverse range of programmes. How can you make the right choice? And what can you as a parent do to help facilitate this process?
University College Maastricht and the faculty of Law will host a Parents' Café and some faculties offer special information sessions for parents during the Bachelor’s Open Day. These sessions allow parents to learn more about the content of a specific bachelor’s programme, Problem-Based Learning, admissions procedures and student life in Maastricht.
Most of the faculties do not require you to sign up beforehand to attend these sessions. The only exceptions to this rule are the sessions organised at the Department of Data Science & Knowledge Engineering.
Special lecture with tips and tricks (in Dutch only):
Studiekeuze, studiesucces, studiekosten en wat je als ouder(s) kunt betekenen voor een aanstaande student.
In addition to the faculty information sessions, you can also join the lectures given by parent counsellor Hermien Miltenburg. She will explain more about how you can help your child in choosing the right programme. Perhaps you have specific expectations, or an opinion about which programmes are less suitable for your son or daughter. Are you going to mention this to them? Or are you going to leave the choice up to your child? Hermien Miltenburg will provide you with useful tools that will allow you to guide your child in this difficult process.
Hermien Miltenburg will be giving two lectures:
from 12.00 to 13.00 in the Bonte Zaal, Universiteitssingel 50 (Randwyck)
from 14.00 to 15.00 in the Karl Dittrichzaal, Student Services Centre (inner city)
