Duygu studied Computer Engineering at Başkent University. In 2011, she started her Master's study at the same university and department. After finishing her Master in 2013 with a thesis titled "Multiway Analysis of High throughput Genomic Data", Duygu started her PhD in the same department. Her thesis study was "Experiment Retrieval on Genomic Databases" under the supervision of prof. Hasan Oğul. The study was a Joint Research Project supported by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and CNR (National Research Council of Italy). Duygu was a visiting researcher in Rome in 2017 to study with Italian partners prof. Giovanni Felici and Dr. Daniele Santoni. She defended her thesis on 15th January 2019 and started to work as an Assistant Professor at the Computer Engineering department, Başkent University. In September 2020 Duygu joined the Bioinformatics-BiGCaT group of prof. Chris Evelo to work as a postdoc on the FNS-Cloud Project.
