Andreea Grigoriu (A.)
Andreea Grigoriu is a Ph.D. candidate in Digital Legal Studies who joined the Law and Tech Lab, part of the Faculty of Law.
She obtained her Msc in Artificial Intelligence degree at the Department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering, at Maastricht University. Both her Internship and Master Thesis were completed at the Institute of Data Science with a general focus on Semantic Enhancement of data using a combination of Machine Learning, Semantic Technologies (Knowledge Graphs, Ontologies) and Text Mining techniques.
Her master thesis research turned to the legal domain, where she created a pipeline to automatically extract atomic facts from English language court decision texts available in the HUDOC database and build a proof-of-concept knowledge graph using the extracted facts, which enables a start for high level case analyses.
As a PhD candidate, she is working on understanding the phenomena of online harassment on social media, specifically abusive language.
Andreea is also the co-coordinator of the Python Club. The Python Club is an initiative to support the development of programming and data analysis skills amongst researchers at the Faculty of Law.
