"I’m Elise, and I recently completed the requirements for the double-track master’s in Strategic Corporate Finance and Sustainable Finance. Right now, I’m doing an internship in Brussels at Cartier Belgium, where I get to apply many of the concepts I learned during my master’s.
Life in Brussels is exciting—there’s always something to do on the weekends, and the city is full of amazing local businesses. It’s also quite easy to live sustainably, with plenty of zero-waste shops, local restaurants, and many places accessible by foot. Plus, the train system makes it easy to explore beautiful nearby destinations.
Brussels is a true international hub—something I feared I would miss after leaving Maastricht. However, I’ve been fortunate to meet incredible people and discover new cultures, which has made my experience here even more enriching."

On 11th February 2025, the Green Office hosted the Green Office Mixer, a networking event that was designed to bring together the Green Teams of each faculty at Maastricht University and the various heads of student organizations in the city. Organized by the Green Office, the Mixer provided a space for conversations and created a space for idea sharing in preparation for the upcoming Maastricht University Sustainability Days.

Kicking off on Earth Day (April 22), the university's Sustainability Days will feature a creative range of faculty-led events all aimed at creating environmental awareness and action across the university community. For Sustainability Days, each faculty's Green Team will contribute to these events that reflect their discipline’s role in not only sustainability but also innovation. The Green Office Mixer served as an opportunity for the student community at Maastricht University, to discuss their thoughts on sustainability and help come up with some ideas or events that they would like to take place on these days. By facilitating new connections, the Mixer set the stage for what promises to be an inspiring series of activities.
Stay tuned for the full program of the Sustainability Days and get ready to take part in shaping a more sustainable future at Maastricht University!

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the FPN Green Team held a fun and hands-on knitting workshop with a creative twist – instead of using traditional yarn, participants made their own by repurposing old t-shirts. The idea was simple but impactful: transform fabric that would otherwise end up as waste into something useful and beautiful.

The workshop was a big hit, drawing a lively crowd of people eager to learn how to turn old clothes into new creations. Whether they were experienced knitters or complete beginners, everyone seemed to enjoy the process. It wasn’t just about learning a new skill—it was about connecting with others and discovering ways to reduce waste in a fun, meaningful way. The FPN Green Team’s event was a reminder that sustainability doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be enjoyable, creative, and community-centered.
