Elijah Rankin, Student Ambassadeur Kunst, Cultuur en Erfgoed

Elijah Rankin is from the United States of America, he has a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Minnesota (USA) and decided to come to Maastricht for the master’s programme Arts and Heritage. “After my bachelor’s degree I took some time off to enjoy a break and to make up my mind about my future. During that time I worked for the Walker Art Center for Contemporary Art in Minneapolis which gave me my first experience with interdisciplinary programming. When researching master’s programmes I looked at several English-taught programmes in the arts and culture field in Europe, because I definitely wanted to go back to Europe after my experiences as an exchange student in Paris. Friends of mine spoke highly of Maastricht University and when I looked at this master’s programme I was attracted by the international perspective on arts and heritage, and the extremely international focus in general. This is an area with a lot of contemporary art engagement, and lots of young people doing very interesting things.”
