Twee SBE-alumni ontvangen prijs van Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen en Geesteswetenschappen
SBE-alumni Rogier Quaedvlieg en Matthijs Korevaar hebben beide een prijs ontvangen van de Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen en Geesteswetenschappen (KHMW) voor hun proefschriften, afgerond aan de Universiteit Maastricht, School of Business and Economics. De prijzen werden op 18 juni uitgereikt door Louise Gunning-Schepers, voorzitter van de KHMW.
Rogier Quaedvlieg received the J.C. Ruigrok Prize of € 12,500, for original research in the field of social sciences. The JC Ruigrok Price is a reward for young researchers who conduct original research in the field of social sciences. The prize circulates between four research fields. Every four years a researcher in economics is selected as the winner.
Rogier Quaedvlieg obtained his PhD in financial econometrics in 2016 at Maastricht University. His research focuses on the themes of financial econometrics, forecasting, volatility, risk management and time series. Rogier is now an associate professor at the Erasmus School of Economics.
Matthijs Korevaar received the Van der Knaap Prize of € 10,000, for original research in the field of economic and social geography, as well as in the field of urban and regional economy. Matthijs Korevaar holds a PhD in Finance from Maastricht University.
Matthijs's research interests are in finance, real estate and economic history. He exploits the long course of history to draw lessons relevant for modern financial markets, with a specific focus on the housing market. Matthijs is now an Assistant Professor at the Erasmus School of Economics
The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW: Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen) is the oldest ‘Learned Society’ in the Netherlands. Ever since its establishment, the KHMW has been involved in promoting science and building bridges between academia and society.
