Lobbying in the EU
Volledige vakbeschrijvingThe third module of the Master in European Public Affairs is dealing with the topic of lobbying in the European Union. During four weeks, students delve into the two sides of this activity: the theoretical and the practical side of it. In the theoretical part, we discuss the history and the meaning over time of the term “lobby”, how the term is defined and perceived in different cultures and countries. Students will get acquainted with different academic theories that are trying to explain at a conceptual level this practical activity, its meaning, resorts and results. The practical aspect of the course introduces the main actors and players that get involved in this activity and their activities as lobbyists. Students develop their own lobby strategy, the so-called “pitch”, and gain an insight into how to lobby in Brussels. The students receive their grades for this assignment, which constitutes the main bulk of their overall grade for this module.
Doelstellingen van dit vakThis module aims to familiarize students with the theoretical and practical inns and outs of lobbying in the EU and trains students in developing their own public affairs pitch.
