UM and the political debate on internationalization

As the most international university in the country, UM follows developments closely and, in the interest of the university and the region, the institution continues to ask for tailor-made solutions in the event of any regulations limiting the intake of foreign students.

Collaboration agreement between Radboud University and Maastricht University

Workplace education programme for secondary school teachers in Limburg
17-03-2022Maastricht University and Radboud University’s teacher training academies are to intensify their cooperation to address the shortage of secondary school teachers. The joint workplace education programme will make it easier for existing and aspiring teachers in Limburg to obtain a teaching qualification via an academic teacher training programme. The new programme will start in September 2022.

Egon Willighagen’s efforts to promote Open Science awarded at National Open Science Festival

Egon Willighagen – assistant professor at NUTRIM – received a trophy and 250 euros as one of the runner ups.

Dutch research institutions and Elsevier agreed on a new extensive agreement
20-05-2020The Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), the Dutch Federation of University Medical Centers (NFU), the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and Elsevier announced that they have entered into a national agreement. Maastricht University and MUMC+ participate in this contract that runs until 2025.

Dutch research institutions and Elsevier reach framework agreement
19-12-2019VSNU, NFU, NWO and Elsevier have reached a framework agreement. In the short term, this means that from January 2020 we will have access to all online journals from Elsevier and UM scholars can publish Open Access in all Elsevier journals – Full OA and Hybrid – without paying APC.

19-08-2019Maastricht University and MUMC+ students and staff can access the articles of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) journals again. The current subscription runs until 2021.

Elsevier has considerably expanded the number of journals in which open access can be published for free
13-08-2019Elsevier has expanded the number of journal titles in which researchers from Maastricht University and MUMC+ can publish open access ‘for free’ to 1650 hybrid titles. Researchers can now also publish in 250 open access journals without paying APC.

A NARCIS milestone: more than 700,000 academic open access publications registered
01-08-2019The Dutch scholarly publications portal NARCIS now presents more than 700,000 open access publications by Dutch academics. Maastricht University counts for 15,228 open access publications.
