Full course description
The clinical internship is part of the Master Mental Health. The clinical internship takes place in an external institution, such as a hospital, psychiatric institute, health care institution, primary health care practices, educational settings (special care education) etc. The main goal is to gain clinical practical experience that focuses on the entire diagnostic and treatment process in the (ambulant) mental health care. The student fulfills a learning process in which relevant professional qualities are developed with regard to knowledge, skills, attitude, including personal performance. In this way, the student can test his/her own options and gets the possibility to explore the work field and deepen specific interests.
The clinical internship consists of 18 ECTS, which resembles a minimum of 520 hours. These hours include intervision at the faculty. The clinical internship will mostly be part-time: about 2-4 days a week during 6-12 months. Students are allowed to combine their clinical and research internship. Students and their supervisors should decide upon the most suitable distribution of time during the internship. Of course, within the internship requirements and regulations of the faculty.
