Drs J.S.J. Smeets, M.D.
Joey Smeets is a PhD candidate at the Department of Human Biology. His main focus is in research and education. His research is mainly focused on protein metabolism of human organs and musculoskeletal tissues. Within the M3 research unit, his research spans the broad range from measuring basal protein synthesis rates of human organs and musculoskeletal tissues, to investigating the effect of both anabolic and catabolic stimuli on tissue protein synthesis rates. Joey Smeets holds a BSc in Health Sciences, a MSc in Human Movement Sciences, and a MSc Physician – Clinical Investigator.
