Health and safety at work
Maastricht University (UM) is dedicated to providing staff with a healthy and safe work environment. To attain this, the university has sustainable employability as the starting point in the new vision on HR.
UM has health & safety policies on topics such as emergency response, workplace visits, risk inventories, absenteeism, energy conservation measures and how to handle dangerous substances in laboratories.
In addition to the abovementioned topics, you will find information on this page about Preventive Medical Examination, sports facilities, reporting ill and fit for work and pregnancy, but also on inappropriate behaviour, the confidential advisor and the ombudsman.
In the fall of 2018, the first Sustainable Employability Monitor (UM-SEM) was shared among UM employees. The UM-SEM is the successor to the biennial work perception survey, with a stronger focus on the sustainable employability, inclusivity & diversity and work pressure within UM.
