Professional career history
Fernando Souza de Man works as an assistant professor at Maastricht University. He focuses on international tax issues, mainly corporate income tax, and the application of tax treaties by developing states.
Fernando has a Law LL.B from the University of São Paulo, Brazil and an LL.M in International and European Tax Law at Maastricht University (cum laude). He obtained his PhD in 2013 with a thesis on " Taxation of Services in Treaties between Developed and Developing Countries: A Proposal of New Guidelines". An updated version of the thesis was published as Volume 39 of the IBFD Doctoral Series. This book was shortlisted in 2018 for the Frans Vanistendael award.
Prior to joining the department Fernando has worked as a tax lawyer/tax manager in law firms in Brazil.
