"De kunst van het balanceren"

In my valedictory lecture, I will discuss education-related themes that played an important role during my term of office, first as scientific director of the FHML Education Institute and later also as vice-dean of education in the same faculty. Each of these themes involved dilemmas that required careful balancing when weighing options and making decisions. Many of these themes are still relevant today, such as the appreciation of education, work pressure, and facilitating educational careers. Based on my experiences and what I have learned, as well as on research, I hope to offer some ideas for the future.

I will also, of course, express my gratitude to the people and organizations that have played an important and valuable role in my career.
